The "Esc"ape Cowl
Materials:
K/10 ½ 6.5 mm crochet hook
100 grams worsted weight yarn
Samples made in:
Cascade 220 color #7828 (100g)
Mondial la lana Merino Plus color #749 (will need 200g)
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Gauge:
6 extended single crochets and 5 ½ rows in a 2” x 2” square
Stitch Dictionary:
ch – chain dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet fpdc – front post double crochet
esc – extended single crochet
Pattern Notes:
Stitch count should not change.
Any chains at the beginning of round do not count as the first stitch.
Cowl:
Begin with a slip knot, insert hook, and chain 70 stitches OR any multiple of 2 that can fit around the widest part of the wearer’s head.
Making sure not to twist chain row, slip stitch into first chain stitch to join in the round. You will be working in the round.
Round 1: ch1, sc into same stitch, dc into next ch, [sc, dc] repeat around, join with slip stitch into first sc at beginning of round.
Round 2: ch1, sc into same stitch, fpdc around dc from previous row, [sc, fpdc] repeat around, join with slip stitch into first sc from beginning of round.
Rounds 3-5: repeat Round 2.
Rounds 6-21: ch2, esc into same stitch, esc around, join with slip stitch into top of first esc from beginning of round.
Rounds 22-26: Repeat Round 2.
Cut yarn, weave in ends. Block as needed.
